  • He is talking about a style of singing called the Nadaswaram Bani (he claims it is the creation of the imagination of some people), where the vocalist holds his breath to produce long drawn out notes which is similar to nadaswaram playing. Laced with his trademark humour, he also demonstrates the bhriga (cluster of notes sung in fast tempo) and karvai (sustenance of note for a long time) singing.

  • For those of us who can't understand Tamil, can you explain what he's describing? He seems to be demonstrating two styles of singing, the first is a more "jumpy" style that is reminiscent of nadaswaram playing, while the second is more lyrical, like violin playing.

  • haha yeah he is funny! and great voice

  • not only is his singing divine, his sense of humour is great too :)

  • Wonderful. But this type of style is very absorbing to listeners.
