you're right- and once a viking closed in with a contemporary opponent such as a Frank or an Irish, they were lethal. They did not stand around facing an enemy allowing themselves to be shot at as depicted here. Their quality of swordsmanship was very high.

samurai were epic warriors but they are extremely over rated, movies have mad them seem invincible, they just didnt talk about loses thats why nobody hears about them actually losing.

vikings are damn good fighters too. just because their style is more aggressive and savage doesn't make it any less effective

you know folding is a common technique all over the world right? and folding is to spread out impurities and made a more uniform blade. japanese swordsmiths had to fold their swords a lot because the quality of steel in japan was worse than europe. it's a good sword but there's no such thing as a "best" sword

They were fearless but so are samurais. Fearless AND disciplined

True. There's a reason the katana is considered the greatest sword. It's folded steel plus it's been studied for hundreds of years by master swordsmiths. A barbarian who only wreaks havoc on everywhere he goes can't win against a trained and disciplined samurai.
