The Fourth Night of My Drinking is the 10th Webisode from Drive-By Truckers 2010 album, The Big To-Do. Patterson Hood and Jay Gonzalez discuss, to borrow a phrase from Colonel Kurtz, 'The horror... the horror....'.
@KoenHead Suppose they could just have had an off night. Only seen em once live and they kicked arse that night. It was in a bar ( a very big bar ) but I still rate'm as probably the best bar band in the business, at least the best ive seen. Maybe arena gigs dont suit them, still one of my all time favourites, THEY FUKN ROCK !
Maybe they chose not to play those songs because those songs are clearly very Tom Petty influenced. Hearing the vocals on this song, I can hear a bit of Tom Petty in his voice so that led me to think that.
When I saw the Truckers open for Tom Petty in Kansas City last week, they played for an hour and yet skipped this, as well as "This F*ckingJob," which are my two faves on the new CD. Combine that with the crappy Arena sound, and a sluggish performance, and I'd say it was a pretty sucky set from the band. Never thought I'd say that, but on that night in KC, the band was merely an average Bar band in over their heads..........
@CALABRO14 Agreed that they are a fantastic band.
