Did you know? That's just the BEGINNING. America (USA namely) chose to go from analog to digital TV. There are expected over 50M tons (in a number 50,000,000 tons) of e-waste *additionally* to that. More beautiful lagoons turned to toxic waste dumps. It feels like the Apocalypse movie, but no: this is REAL.

not all of these companies originated in USA, so your point in that regard is irrelevant. secondly, the companies that did originate in USA took the jobs from here and sent them over there because they are profit oriented- and the chinese worker works harder, faster, longer, without taking sick days or complaining and will work for much, much less. so those workers are just working a job to survive, like we are here. want to blame someone? blame the company CEOs that sent the jobs abroad...

If you honestly think that a Chinese worker has more integrity or something, you are very sadly mistaken.
They work for less money, because they can. A Chinese worker can earn 5 or 10 a week, because you can live on 5-10 a week there. The worker there has no rights, if they get hurt, oh well.. To bad for him.
This idea that Asian workers are "better people" or something is silly. Deep down we are all pretty much the same. The exchange rate is what kills the US worker, not character.

You are a very selfish person. They might have made it but we are the ones who buy it. We think we have to have a new computer and cell phone every year, and never even think twice about what happends to it when we get rid of it. And its not their fault we lost jobs to them, it is our government's fault that they allow companies to move jobs oversea's. These people didn't ask to be born there, and they don't understand how toxic these chemicals are to them. People like you are disgusting

You call me disgusting because you don't like how Chinese people handle their environment and then suggest that a poor country (The US) go in a fix the problems of a rich country (China).
Let me guess, we should sell more bonds to China and use the money to clean up China's environment which of course will employ Chinese people.
They have trillions of dollars in wealth and they should invest it in their environment like we did when we were rich. We are now a poor nation like it or not.

U.S.A. GDP: 13 Trillion USD.
P.R.C. (China) GDP: 3 Trillion USD.

MATH, CAN YOU USE IT?

As a nation, we are BROKE! We are running a 2T dollar deficit and the money is coming from the Chinese government and you have the nerve to say we have more money than them. GDP doesn't mean shit, especially ours since it is "massaged" as to be meaningless. Our citizens are in incredible debt and the whole US nearly collapsed last year. You are living in fantasy land if you think the us is in better shape than China!

You said "more money", 13 trillion is more than 3 trillion. If you meant purchasing power parity, that's also higher in the U.S. Income per capita? also higher in the U.S. The Chinese GOVERNMENT is in better shape than the U.S. GOVERNMENT because they didn't invade two countries and deregulate big business.

But I guess everyone else is supposed to feel sorry about Americans going on a hubris trip and starting a global financial crisis and look for someone else to blame.

More Kool-Aid anyone?

We have 10% unemployment (officially) and our citizens are trillions in debt as is the government and China has huge cash reserves a great manufacturing industry and the citizens have low debt and you say we are rich?
I would like computers to be priced at there real cost, but for the US gov to pay (with money borrowed from China) to clean up China is just crazy.
