CBC NEWS As It Happens 1986

This is the CBC's "As It Happens" show broadcast on Radio Canada International, December 31, 1986, 7:30 p.m. Eastern time. Shortwave radio aircheck recorded in Philadelphia. I used to listen to this show on CBE 1550 AM in Windsor, Ontario. In this segment, the show looks at the space shuttle disaster almost a year earlier.

I'm a Challenger buff, yet had never heard this bit before. Thank so much you for putting this media up, even though it's not a "video" per se. I appreciate the realistic SW sound too. I remember that day very clearly, I was 24 years old. It truly was like the JFK assasination for my generation. Great analysis in this story. Thanks again. Bless them.

As It Happens still uses this music. Shortly after this Dennis Trudeau became anchor for CBC 6 Montreal.

As a teenager in Scotland in the mid-1980's I was interested in shortwave radio and I used to listen regularly to the World ar Six and As It Happens over Radio Canada International. They were broadcast live and used to start at 10 or 11pm over here! I well remember the voice of Alan Maitland. Thanks for posting this. it's certainly brought back memories.
