In October 1997, we travelled from Hearst to Sault Saint Marrie in Ontario Canada aboard the Algoma Central Railway. It was fall time, and the colours were wonderful.

This tour was part of a Polar Bear trip trip Churchill run by Ffestiniog Travel. See my other videos of this trip.

  • looks wonderfull :)

  • are the cars still steam-heated?

  • When she says "isolated", with that accent, I, almost feel exotic! haha! He must have had a satelllite phone. No cell will work up there. The Sault is pretty cool, I must say... Winnipeg isn;t the next city, by the way, it's Wawa(2500 people), then White River , etc., then, Thunder Bay, then, a LONG way past to Winnipeg!!! Driving, from the Soo, to Kenora is 13 hours straight, at least 2 more to Winnipeg!! 15 hours is plain STUPID!! But, our country is just so darn BIG!

  • @Pinckney12 That's right!! Good beer, good company, eh?

  • I liked that part when that guys home was also a trainstation. This is why I love Canada

  • she just HAS to talk over that beautiful horn on the Wisconsin Central unit......

  • Nice video and nice to see the parts north of Canyon. The Hearst part is on a highway and was a wye with the CN mainline [now disassembled section] which would have allowed a very long train [~250 miles] to be turned if there had been a need and the time.

  • Woods Cabins is where it's at.

  • Oh, and this is a very nice video.

  • Just came back on the ACR from our cabin. Fortunately, the ride is only 1.5 hours from the Soo.

I always look forward to summer vacation when I can sit in the baggage car in a chair, keeping my dog company and swilling Canadian Beer,
