  • Why did they put parting dust on the cope and drag before the final assembly prior to the pour? I never saw that before.

  • canadianfisherman1,, i loved the job lol most of our jobs where one offs so every day was different.. i was proud to say i was a "loose pattern moulder",, most people have no idea what that job title means lol and to be honest with you the only people i knew that hated this job where the lazy wankers.

  • im a loose pattern moulder and i used to do this for a living,, with no mechanical aids (one man job) thanks for this it brought back some good memmories lol

  • @tzkelley Usually this will give a better surface finish.

  • Those molds get very heavy very quickly-I do a small amount of casting in my backyard,and the size of the casting I can pour is limited by my ability to handle a couple of flasks full of damp sand.
