@proggoth You're welcome. Pat Metheny is an example of a guitarist that I don't give a damn about because his tone is such horseshit. He should take some of the time he uses to slam Kenny G and his moneymaking approaches to jazz and use it to make sure his guitar doesn't sound like somebody kicking the side of a cardboard box. Is that an E or an F, Pat? Who knows, with all of his mud...

@ununoctium100 Thankyou. I remember getting killed on here a couple years ago for suggesting he tone down the fx when executing such precise technical passages. My point was not that he was hiding sloppy play but that many guitarists dont give proper consideration to their settings and their composer's intention.

Guitar+reverb+Hora Staccato=violin+cathedral+Hora Staccato. Staccato playing is STILL staccato playing in the HANDS but such ATMOSPHERES will not SHOWCASE it as well as legato. Big reverbs/rooms confuse the ear's recognition of the separation of notes that is a major component of staccato. Though 99% of ANYthing Shawn is ubercool, his tone WAS drenched in fx that weren't always appropriate for some of the video examples, even IF this one wasn't about the tech but going outside guitar repertoire.
