In this clip from www.artistshousemusic.org - Shelly Berg, Professor of Jazz Studies at the University of Southern California, talks about the importance of developing a relationship with the audience. The audience will give a musician encouragement and pull things out of the musician that he or she didn't know was possible. Therefore, Berg points out that it is never too early to develop one's own audience. The music industry is a business of relationships. One must make those relationships with other musicians and the audience.

  • Ive found you'll find yourself SINGING different ly this was a little unsettling to me at first and I didn't quite understand WHY I couldn't sing my song "the same way" every time. I thought I was doing something WRONG. Until you do it LIVE you really think it will be like it is in practice.
