This is a movie that is brilliant, beautiful, and wonderfully tragic in it's portrayal of women, friendships, and Mothers & daughters in the late 50's. As a Biracial woman I found it very powerful in it's attempt to address the complexities of racial identity . Adapted from Fannie Hurst's novel it's 1959's Imitation of Life. Starring Lana Turner, Juanita Moore, John Gavin, Sandra Dee, Susan Kohner, Robert Alda, Dan O'Herlihy, and Gospel music star Mahalia Jackson.

The guy that plays Steve , John Gavin was ambassador of the U.S. in Mexico he is part Mexican on his mothers side,and Susan kohner is also mexican from her moms side her mother was Lupita Tovar she was in the spanish version of Dracula.

How ironic, considering that Lana Turner was one of the millions of people who screen-tested for the role before Vivien Leigh was cast!

Susie is a well mannered ditzy,lil girl but very innocent and Sarah Jane is a Lil bitch you should never be ashamed of what you come from black,white,Asian or anything she selfish! Also Steve is cute but he jealous of the Jawn career!
