@Nigel16032009 The driver couldn't close the regulator because of the steam stuck in it so when he did it slammed back open breaking the drivers arm and this usually happens because it is too cold because the same thing happens to are engines but it was the drivers fault he broke his arm because he should have been told to leave it until the steam lets him close it rather than forcing it closed
The crew overfilled the boiler, so that when the driver put the power back on after closing the regulator to stop the slip, water was forced into the injector which effectively jammed it open. That crew had never driven 60532 before, so they knew nothing of how to handle her quirks. Had the driver had a more gentle touch on the regulator and reopened it a little later, it might have been avoidable, but such is the way with machines that complex.
Why couldn't the drive just shut off the regulator? Isn't that normal procedure when a slip occurs. I remember filming 45407 ascending Dryclough near Halifax. It slipped a bit, but the driver kept the train moving, albeit rather slow! How could this happen at Durham?
im glad this dosnt happen with my hornby stuff, would have serval Q1s 9Fs and other expensive locos broke :(

@MrCreid1990 In fact both his arms were broken and apparently he still has residual disability. This was truly a disaster.
