  • I'm also gonna be using swimbaits this year. I bought a Berkley Lightning Rod $60, that rod is designed specifically for braided lines. And I bought a Team Diawa 100 SH reel to put on it $120. Got rod and reel at Bass Pro Shop. Can't wait to use it spring is almost here. Good Luck this season.

  • How big of lure can i the rod handle, i need one that is rated at least to 4-5 ounces

  • I use a Okuma Reflections it is a 6 1/2 foot spinning split butt rod that is quite sturdy but you are probably looking for one a little stronger yet in the catalog that I bought it from there where different sizes and lengths so check it out.

  • i was looking for a 7 foot rod or a 7'10 rod

  • Yea I agree with bassallyear, skeet Reese rods work great and are low priced...... You should get the swimbait/Carolina rig rod its 7 ft 6 in, so u got plenty of length there. The Abu Garcia skeet Reese reel is sick. It's 250 on eBay.

  • Okuma makes a rod it has i believe 2 7'6 models and like 5 7'11s and looks pretty sweet, i was gonna get one but decided not to. it is called the Okuma Big Bait Special avaliable at Tackle Warehouse

  • Do not buy the skeet rods. Those are for his specs not your.Use a 7'6".Please dont waste ur money the first 2 guide inserts will break out.I have an 8 ft model and its use for flipping but its to stiff for a swimbait.U need a little give for a swimbait fish. a flipping rod is going to be to stiff. Please just watch my video, comment see if u like it but see what ur getting first.Dont just go out and buy the biggest on u can find. That would be really dumb.

  • I have a 7 6 set up with the skeet Reese reel and skeet Reese rod so far it's a all around great combo but swimbaits are my favorite. I would say yes get the skeet Reese rod baitcaster kind, and get a 7 6 it's perfect for what you like. Also if you can afford it, get the skeet Reese reel it's sweet.

  • I got the Medium heavy rod i don't know if it would be good for that heavy of a bait. If you went with the Heavy action you would probably be ok. But hell i dont care i'll throw a freakin boat anker with this one if it will catch me a bass lol.

  • i have a g. loomis glx bait caster rod and a quantum response baitcaster, works for me i just use a rod that matches the lure weights i use for it and the length i keep minimum like 6 foot dont need that exspensive of a rod i just have mine cuz my dad baught it like 6 years back and never used it. the rod is awsome... just go with a rod that you feel is right like to me the g. loomis are a third arm to me cuz ive used g.loomis rods since i was able to walk

  • a baitcaster is definately a must i would go with a good baitcaster with about 20 lb florocarbon or monofilament with a 7 foot or bigger heavy action trigger rod
