On a recent kayak trip, I got the chance to tag along with the crew as they got in the water and got out. Unfortunately, they had to stop midway to also help us (Steve who was driving the kayaks & me) when we were stranded on top of a very muddy little cliff. I should have videotaped how close we were to flipping over but...
The muddy conditions and the washing away of the road was due to the Jefferson Water Treatment plant flowing water into the river. Apparently no one cared or knew - we told one guy on the inside but he shrugged it off. Even the Border Patrol vehicle that came to check on us said he was stuck earlier. We still don't know what was going on with the city's resources going into the river.
But the adventure continued afterward and the team arrived safely to their destination with huge smiles on their faces. The BRO guys treated everyone to a beer and off we went to tell others of the beauty that we take for granted - the Rio Grande.
Hey when are yall doing this again I am in laredo and would like to join

@jared3925611 @jared3925611 The Big River Outfitters does a few trips out every week. They need a minimum of 3 people to schedule a trip out on the river. Since this video was taken, they have stairs and a little dock so it is easier. Unfortunately, they do not operate during the winter but ask them on Facebook when they plan to reopen.
