As promised in an earlier post on my Facebook page (the link is elsewhere on this channel page), here is the next video in the VidMag Television Online Upload Project.
I'm sure you'll agree with me that this is a very funny piece that was recorded one very late night after a Lords of the New Church concert in Cleveland in March of 1986. The concert was great and afterward we all went back to the hotel to do this interview with Stiv. Even though the Lords had another show to do in Chicago the next day, Stiv still gave us a night full of laughs that didn't wrap up until sometime near dawn.
It so happened that long-time friend of Stiv's, Danny Reed (former bass player for Syl Sylvain & the Teardrops), so I thought rather than do the interview myself, I'd ask Danny to do it and he agreed. In hindsight, it looks like a brilliant decision, but at the time it just seemed like great fun to do, and I'm quite pleased with the result because it turned out Danny was as much of a ham as Stiv was. It's a terrible shame that neither of them are with us anymore.
And that brings me to one of the reasons i'm posting this now - the June 2 anniversary of Stiv's death is around the corner and I thought this would be a good time to remind everyone what a great and funny person Stiv was. A clip from this interview was featured in my VidMag Fifth Anniversary Special (also on this channel), but here it is in its entirety for the first time ever. I give to you, 'STIV-TV'.
(For reference purposes, this interview was conducted prior to the release of the Sid & Nancy movie)
lol I know, right? I think it was always there but just kept growing until it got like this. I never had the nerve to ask him about it - I thought he might be a bit self-conscious about it lol.
