What is Race Across America and why are we riding?
8 Durham Leaders Racing their bicycles across America 24x7 for 8 days as ambassadors for the city we all love and to call attention to great local charities for volunteering and investing. DurhamCares is participating in the 29th annual Race Across America (RAAM) in June. Eight Durham community leaders (including, Christopher Gergen of Bull City Forward, Chip Denton, Headmaster of Trinity School and Henry McKoy of FourthSector Banccorp) are racing against other teams from around the world in an event that's expected to be won in just under 7 days. The DurhamCares team will be racing 24x7 and will be bringing exposure for great organizations in Durham and for Durham itself. Theyll be celebrating Durham from coast to coast and inspiring others to get involved. When the race starts on June 12th, Durham residents can follow the team online for the 3,000 mile journey from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD. You can also get involved locally in two ways—by giving to our 2010 local non-profit partners or donating volunteer hours to the Durham community. 100% of all donations go directly to Durham charities.
