Call me controversial but I just think this type of thing has been done before. It's a basic template; acoustic, same chord thing going on, slowed right down.
It's just a bit... Damien Rice.
Before you start thumbing me down I'm not saying it's unpleasant or bad I just think it's nothing new or special. It's lacking an innovative spark

To all of you who say that Karima is just a flash in the pan and relatively untalented in comparison to her voice - listen to her album. I understand that on first viewing she is just following a current trend to cover this song in this way, but she did this cover at the end of 2008/ beginning of 2009 as a bonus feature on Jools Holland's website (i have the link to prove it) so in actual fact, Katie Melua, Pixie Lott & about 75% of X Factor auditionees have in fact copied her. Karima, you rock

Wow *__* it only made me cry..
just amazing!

i like the music
the singing is another story.
overdone
which is why i liked the music,
because it was tastefully simple.
they do this back of the throat thing
wow, don't strain your voice like that
it just comes off disingenuous
again though
the music is great

female hendrix,n i meant that as a caomplement.wow
I love this 'overused' style of music and i do stress the word overused, it's utterly fantastic!!
She's nothing special at all, and will basically be this summer's 'flash in the pan!'
Chasing Butterflies is a fine interpretation philsynth :P

Yow...I disagree when you say that shes "nothing special". If you've seen her play live then you'll know... the room goes so quiet you could hear a pin drop when she starts singing. Shes a very rare and exceptional talent imo. I think Karima will be around for a long time. "Utterly fantastic" I will agree with ;)

Katie Melua mark II imo, i've seen this style used profusely!!! the lyrics don't stretch the imagine much, and to make up for her lack of talent on an instrument, she relies to heavily on her voice, which really does make me want to sob!! and she performed with James Morrison, he is the ultimate male version of 'chasing butterflies'
I only looked her up because she is friends with my twin sisters, now if she'd covered something like Paranoid Android by Radiohead i might of looked twice!!!
