  • It seems like you need some reading to do and a visit to the place. The real irony in what you wrote is that the group that represented the UAE and the Arabs in the IRENA hosting nominations was led by a woman, sheikha Lubna Al-Qasimi, and the group contained more than 6 great Arab, Muslim ladies who can do the same work a lady in a bikini would accomplish, and better! Please get over the Taliban thoughts you're stuck with, and the typical "rich arabs with oil" silliness, we work hard as you do.

  • @Flluuxx

You're right. UAE was making tons of money off of oil. But they realize that the oil is running out. I admire them for being the first to take a major step in the direction of sustainability.

Also consider this... the rich upper class are the ones who have the largest impact on the environment, with energy consuming house, multiple cars, and all the food they want.

Americans constitute 5% of the world's population but consume 24% of the world's energy.

  • "fresco dining....", theyre biting the shit out of the venus project

  • I went to a seminar / presentation about Masdar city by one of the heads of CH2M Hill, the project management company based in the US. She said most of the residents would be international. That means there will be a rich diversity.

I do believe that the women in UAE choose to wear the head scarf... if not for conservative respect for themselves, then for the fashion statement it is becoming in the immediate region.

  • @99meemo99 that is not the point, give the women a chance to choose what they want to do, if they want to wear the garment, let them wear it, if not dont threaten them with stoning or death. the Sahria Law is a premitive set of laws that our barbaric ancestors would have been accustomed to not 21st century people.

  • Fucking prick Racsist

  • And how about sitting outside with your girlfriend and our group of friends, girls in tank tops included, having a laugh while enjoying a cold beer and a pork sandwich?

  • Strange that the only people who will be able to afford this place are most likely people who got rich off of selling Oil (Rich Arabs).

It seems we humans have a great sense of irony.

Also, since its an Arabic Nation, women will still be property and lack rights, being forced to hide under uncomfortable black garments in this "future" place.

Seems more like a nightmare to me.

  • "Solar Power. When will people learn?"

Nah, I kid. I can't WAIT for this!!
