@Jtaylor1 If I recall correctly, Spotlight was an earlier iteration of Cinemax.

Spotlight was A pay cable channel started by Times Mirrors'Dimension Cable in 1978.The Service went dark in 1984.

I worked for this company from 1982 to 1984 when it was bought by Showtime when Time Mirror (LA Times)shut it down. We up linked from a location in Laguna Niguel CA to SATCOM 3R.
This place was very cutting edge for the early 1980's!

I am waiting for the ad that says:
"Spotlight! Shinning Bright! We light up the stars with Spotlight!"

I am glad to see there are some of you who remember Spotlight. I liked their movie intros or channel bumpers! I hope more appear. I am still waiting for the Spotlight intro where the full ad phrase was sung: "Spotlight! Shinning Bright! Day and Night! We light up the stars with Spotlight!"

It was around when TMC started but I don't think they're connected. I remember when Spotlight went off our cable system in Colorado and they replaced it with TMC, but it wasn't as if it was still the same network and they had renamed or been bought out. Even HBO had only been on the air a couple of years by this point so I think there were several similar channels before the 'shakedown' as many folded because they were all competing for subscribers.
