There is another method. You move the active magnet to the right, then you let Olaf first glide down to the button to press it, and after that you glide to right into the magnetic field.

no, see you lift the shield back up before he hits the electricity, then as hes going back up, you flip the switch

Olaf falls really fast, by the time he hits the switch he'd be dead and not have time to lift the shield. This way is at least safer. (and quicker than having to restart.)

you know, at 0:45 you could just have olaf let down his shield then let it back up again above the switch, this way you don't have to switch between characters, it's probably easier this way.
