Sadly an electric motor will beat a combustion engine off the mark and have top end power. So the sound of an internal combustion engine is now becoming the sound of fail.

It's all a matter of personal taste. All you can really do is complain about someone elses bad taste in powerplant type.
If someone can find a solution to releasing energy from petroleum in a way that is more efficient than electric, then I will say that ICE's are better. But for the time being, battery tech is the only thing stopping electric from being the most efficient and powerful, not to mention less complicated and easier to mass produce.
