You must not have watched the episode 'Encounter at Far-Point" or "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn."

Its awesome seeing Galaxy Classes kicking ass. You never really got to see Enterprise do it much. Picard always talked his way out of a fight.

They use a mini warp field kinda thing called a subspace field to move at impulse, which in turn magnifies how fast the are actually going inside the bubble impulse speed(as fast as you can go in normal space without E=MC^2 kicking you ass), when the subspace bubble collapses, the ship goes the speed it was going inside the bubble which is not that fast by comparison.

i loved the dominion war storyline, but damn did the feds get tactically stupid! space is big, yet they kept charging their ships through the center of the the enemy''s fortified position. why not stand off at maximum range and pick the platforms off one by one? or fly around them?

not a good idea to leave a heavily fortified position behind them.

but it's a static position. those platforms couldn't chase the fed ships. i think they took unnecessary loses.
