If its a new install, in my state you need to have a plumber do the work. Home owners that have occupancy (you must live in the home) must be a single dwelling (no multiples) can do minor repairs, and replacment of exsiting fixtures, providing the city code allows it.(which has to meet or exceed state code) Falure to comply can result in fines, jail, and you can be sued for negligance. Damages such as new ownership, polution of potable water, polution of ground water, and etc.

totally should be no problem configuring a dbl sink drain like you have depicted here. love to hear the arguments against.
