Afghanistans presidential rivals claim victory

Both major candidates in Afghanistan's presidential election are claiming victory after Thursday's vote. However, an official verdict will be delivered only in early September.

Turnout has been very low as many of the Afghan people have stayed at home, amid violent threats from the Taliban. Authorities claim around only half of eligible voters have cast a ballot.
