A profile piece on Ymir, an out of work alien monster who starred in Ray Harryhausen's sci-fi classic 20 Million Miles to Earth.

No longer able to find work because of the advances made with CGI monsters and aliens, Ymir must find his way in the world as a lo-fi alien monster. However, Mickey Rourke's comeback in films like the Wrestler and Iron Man 2 has inspired Ymir to try and step back into the spot light.

  • It's a sad day for these monsters and aliens. I mean, Ymir isn't even in color. He's black & white. Prospects don't look good. As for the New Jersey accent, that's where he's lived the past few decades.

  • Ymir vs vitali/waldimyer Klistsko

  • Cgi sucks dick.

  • The Ymir is far better than most of today's monsters. The Ymir always was, and always will be, one of the BEST cinematic monsters of all time! :)

  • @pukemaster666 Yeah,I find CGI to look a bit more cartoonish,it's like the dragonslayer dragon,vs. the Beowulf dragon. The Beowulf one look's more cartoonish for sure, and what's good about stop motion is you make a kick ass puppet, and have a program like After effect's,then you're in business, you don't have to master Maya, and all that. And anything that work's for Ray harryhausen, and Phil tippet is good enough for me.:D

  • @cloudvol7 when it comes to monsters and monster fighting it is tbh now cgi is good for destruction but when it comes to dinosuars it makes it more beliable xD

  • @pukemaster666 I don't know if it's alway's better,but I like stop motion alot too.:D

  • @cloudvol7 stop motion is always better then cgi perioud xD

  • @BenJam333 Here's a fun fact,2 year's after the film was made they rendered it in color,so the Ymir doesn't have to be so sad.
