Katara was in the beginning of Avatar this sweet girl with some moves, but now she is awesome girl with fantastic moves. But during her fight with Hama she becomes a bloodbender...Katara has changed through the show (and I love it)

She had to Bloodbend, otherwise Sokka would've stabbed Aang.
Unless Hama only did that to trigger this reaction. Which I'm nearly sure about.
