Last breaths of a monkey that was probably attacked by a dog at the Buddhist temple I found him at.

RESPONSE to all those that wish I would die along with the monkey... lol:

Wild Thailand monkeys are not the cute little, friendly imps you see in a circus or running up and down someone's back that's playing an accordian in the street. They are sometimes vicious. They are threatening. They sometimes sink their fangs into tourists at this temple. It happened to an Italian tourist's girlfriend a couple months ago. The bite went damn near through her arm.

Monkeys are nothing to mess with in Thailand.

This monkey appeared to be ALMOST dead. The operative word is almost - if you didn't catch that. It was probably still capable of biting whomever touched it. Monkeys don't let people get close and touch them in Thailand. It wouldn't react well to being slid onto a towel or cardboard to be picked up and taken by motorbike or car to the Thai vet. I would never consider attempting it. My health - is worth more than the monkey dying on the steps. Things die daily, it's not the tragedy westerners make it out to be. It's the ultimate natural order of things. Nothing lives forever, nor would you want it to.

Thais did nothing when they saw it. I don't often do things other than what Thais do. Though I've been here for years, I don't always know what is the right thing. I look to Thais for what they do. They don't do anything. They respect the natural order of life... monkeys die, cats die, dogs die, people die. There's nothing earth-shattering about the monkey dying here.

I took the video to show people that this is life in another culture. If you haven't been in Asia for any extended amount of time - you might not understand. You might think it's your duty to save the world. I don't have any such delusions.

Mercy killing?

There's no such thing in Thailand that I'm aware of. I've never seen it. Buddhist monks and regular temple members don't kill anything - not even mosquitoes. You want me to go find a shovel and hit the monkey in the head? How hard you have to hit a monkey in the head to kill it?

If I hit the monkey in the head - would the other monkeys - there's about 200 of them now, come out of the trees and attack me?

Sorry, no... I'm not the savior. I'm not a vet. I'm not someone that values the monkey's life over my own health.

Though you think you might have done something differently - you very likely would not have.

  • Buddhist temple you say?

I can clearly hear a cellphone ringing in the background

  • @licoricesandwich I love this comment... Who told you nobody in Thailand has phones?

  • Why did you video this and put it on here...? Don't tell me to read the description that doesn't tell you why you uploaded it

  • @JetonHaxhia I uploaded it to help you deal with staring death in the face. So many people have this bizarre reaction to death and dying... but, you sure wouldn't want to live forever... death is a release in my own personal view. Not something to get all worked up over.

  • Why didn't you save that monkie? u evil bastard. coward..

Excuse me. I have to go and eat a chicken and maybe 2 or more meat balls

  • @KnarkPekka hahhahahahhahh! This was my favorite comment so far... thanks.

Im sure you guys wouldnt hesitate to give it a hug. Idiots. He isnt cruel he is just watching. I love animals but be releastic. ESPECIALLY IN THAILAND.

  • Monkeys are creepy

  • lmao "OMG a monkey dying! better get my camera!"

  • Is this common?

  • WTF. you should have just got the monkey and save it or something. you don't just film it

  • you cud of put im out of his misery rather than get eaten by maggots

  • @eltats dude... no offense but ur watching this, regardless of ur comebacks or reason as to why watching it, doesn't it also make u immoral?

  • pray......for.....Mojo.

  • @Astupid13NAme Buddhists.

  • @thaipulsedotcom a new begining!

  • who has dogs in a buddhist temple???

  • @eltats kudos.

  • Stupid MONKEY!

  • a lot of sick people in this world, get off watching something die, wonder how they would like it if someone was watching them die when they could've helped.

  • whenever my boyfriend wont do his homework, i show him this video and say "fine, instead watch this video of a monkey dying BECAUSE OF YOU" works every time

  • @KnarkPekka look at it. it was going to die and nothing could have been done to save it. the flies are a sure sign of a fatal infection and the lack of movement (if any at all) shows that nothing can be done to save this poor animal. best case scenario for it would be for it to be euthanized or at least given something for the pain.

  • Oh my gosh. That's sooo sad! :(

  • so ya dont help it and give it a nice last breathe but just leave it there covered in flies and maggots...cause ya know...thats cool too -.-
