@surfocaster no doubt there's some great Gilmour tones in there and I hear a lot of people talk about great stacked distortion sounds while chorus/delay/reverb does a ton work for that "3-D" sound we all love so well...make no mistake, I Love traditional pedalboards, but decided to go rackmount years ago (a la Bradshaw switching without the individual pedals) my question is about how much delay & reverb, type and amount of tube power distortion? (EL 34 Groove Tubes & closed back 1x12 EV's here).

hey man, great tones. i have one question, the sounds are really nice but how in the world do you switch in a live situation from clean to dirt w delay etc. do you use an octa switch? also, do you find stacking necessary? i have the fulldrive, a boss sd 1 and an eq pedal, and im already having trouble to switch between tones!

@GuitarJax I rarely use a straight clean channel. I usually keep my Odrive on and roll off my volume. THat way when I stack my OD's (which is essential for great tone) I already have one on. Your guitar volume knob doesnt make much difference when stacking pedals so when you hit the second OD youre already at a much higher volume even with the knob rolled back some. Then I roll the knob up to get it where I want it and roll it back down right before I turn off my second OD.

And you're playing through a single 1x12 HRDLX?

@surfocaster Yep.

@libertyfalls That sounds great - I've been struggling with amps and can't seem to find a "full" enough sound with anything but a 212 and all the HRDLX's I've played sound too harsh when you start to turn them up. Yours sounds nice. Approximately at what volume did you have the amp set and how much gain or drive were you adding from the amp itself? I know some rut them as clean as possible and then add the dirt later. On a related note, what are your thoughts on the Fulldrive?

@surfocaster Ive never had a problem with the HRD sounding harsh at loud volumes. One thing you have to understand about the HRD's is that the amp is at full volume around "3" on the dial (about 9:00). Anything more than that is the same volume, just naturally distorted (which I dont like). I never run my amp more than 9:00 even live. If you want more clean volume try the Hot Rod DeVille 2x12. Its the same circuit with more power and headroom. I had one but it was too loud!

@surfocaster Fulldrive is ok but it lacked a certain something I couldnt put my finger on. I bought an Ibanez TS-10 from the 80's and its what I expected the FUlldrive to be. The fulldrive has the same problems (in my opinion) as most all tubescreamers. THey are really muddy. Even in the mid scoop position it was still too muddy for me. The TS-10 for me is perfect because it has the tube screamer character but has a little grit sound to it that kinda cancels out the muddiness.
