As an Englishman whose father fought in WW2, it gives me no satisfaction to see loss of german life, but a great deal of satisfaction that nazism as a world power was defeated.

You'd think that the first pass by the Blenheim would have done some damage; it looks like he purposely drops the bombs in the water to the side of the hull, probably hoping to cave it in and sink it. Maybe the bombs were too small? They can't be more than 500lbs. Very brave to fly right into enemy fire in a flimsy thing like the Blenheim. They may have been in-adequate, but they played a big part in the early war; they deserve more credit than they get, I think.

@caduncan07 90% sure that the first plane is a Blenheim; the bump on the back is bigger than the little dome in a Beaufighter, the fuselage isn't a big hunchback like a Beaufort, and the stabilizers leading edge isn't as curved as the Beaufighter/fort. Of course, they're all related; the Beaufort came from the Blenheim, and the Beaufighter came from the Beaufort.

DON'T THINK 5 WERE SHOT DOWN ....THEY DID NOT HIT ANY ON THE RUN/PASS....

@mistersmith6000 In Goebbels diaries he explains it's better to be more truthful about outcomes than the enemy because soon or later neutrals will realize the more accurate reports and you can get more propaganda to work by being honest when you know people will find out later anyway. So combat reports were generally more honest.

@mistersmith6000 yes. its like YAAAAAAAY!!!! for them.

Was that a beaufort or a beaufighter?

The torpedo plane pilots were badass.

The narrator said they had shot down five british planes. If it was true, why not filmed that ? It's like telling stories to Walt Disney...
Amazing they show their own ship being successfully torpedoed
