More Dog Cruelty in Kilkis, Greece

Kilkis is a little known Municipality in Northern Greece (in central Macedonia) to the average tourist. The brutality towards dogs there is quite horrific and tends to go unnoticed to the rest of the world.

The mayor is completely disinterested and if there is a poisoning incident, it is brushed off as a "rare" incident.

There are just a few people in Kilkis who are desperately trying to help these poor animals and we must try to give them our support.

and express your disgust at the way these poor animals are treated and also ask why, the poisoners are never prosecuted!
Please also remind him that according to Law 3170/2003 stray animals are the responsibility of his Municipality and should be collected, neutered and cared for, not collected up in a truck to be disposed of which was the case in May 2006 but fortunately the local animal welfare were able to intervene.

This poisoning and neglect goes on throughout the year unlike most tourist resorts where the poisoning starts after the tourists have gone home.

To date, the puppies of the poisoned mother have not been found so presumed perished. Update will follow

The bloody 'mayor' given a six month suspended sentence for corruption (what did he get in return for turning a blind eye to filthy tavernas?!) AND HE IS STILL A MAYOR?????? Only in Greece!!!!!!! Wow, what a joke the 'law' is in Greece.... no wonder the world is laughing at the country!!! Lets hope the present government will clean up the corruption and the likes of D. Terzidis will be demoted to cleaning the streets for a living!!!

I am currently trying to start a research project that might be published in a news paper if it successes. So I'm going to try as hard as possible to make it good and accurate. If I'm lucky many people will be able to read and become aware of things and then maybe more people will engage in doing something about it!

Oh honey, the solution is not to try to adopt 1 or 2 dogs. Fight, try to change the law about stray animals, ask what you can do to have your voice heard and to find a solution to this problem, ask!

And think big, don't limit yourself to just your neighborhood.

iv had dogs all my life.. since i was a baby but i

dont remeber them... i just know about these ones i have now.. my dog is 11yrs old and is still a puppy at heart and my cat is 12 he can be playful as well :) they are so wonderful and bring me so much joy
