it seems like the director copied alot from Full Metal Jacket when he made this movie. it definetly made the movie better but its really noticeable. overall though great movie...even if it seems like a remake of fmj just taking place in iraq.

well the movie is based on a book by a guy who served in this unit in the gulf war. if you read the book nd watch the film you'd understand. the film is suppose to be boring because this guy and his unit spent that whole tour in the gulf without firing a single shot at the enemy or without coming under fire so they were bored and boredom during war is the most frustrating thing

This is one of the greatest war movies of all time because, unlike other war movies, the focus is fixed on the personal war within each soldier, the conflict in their minds and souls. I found that very compelling.
