i have this guitar and i think its great. looks really good in black.

@imsxx51 it will appreciate in value. the yamaha is a nice player maybe, but it will never appreciate in value. i had a 1976 strat as a teenager. i've seen similar strats from the 1970's at G.C. priced at $4000 and more. i (my mom) paid $240 for it. i then traded it in for $150 store credit on a les paul deluxe ($475 new in 1977).

so, they dropped the stop tailpiece to cut costs here. at least you're not paying for a lot of fancy looking 1/64" veneer. maybe hang up the yamaha pickups and put some really good units in. yamaha just can't get the pickup sounds right. the quality is generally there, but the sound falls short. my mantra is: never pay more than $250 for an asian-made elecric guitar.
