@countrycowboyUSMC I understand what your heritage is but that does not change what the definition of a marine is. More and more marines missions are not marine missions but army missions. The corps is very close to losing its rapid strike force focus and simply becoming a second, better trained army. When does being a marine become a title rather than a job?

@KrazyKommieKiller We are the Mens' department of the navy and if the Marine Corps got dissolved it would prove disastrous. The Army cannot do the mission of the Marine Corps because we've been doing Land Air and Sea missions for as long as we've been around. They are big and slow while we are small and fast. and calling us Soldiers is the biggest mistake youve ever made. so why not go read a history of the Army and compare it to the Marines. We are MARINES. Semper Fi!

@KrazyKommieKiller No we're not. A Marine Corps is a Small corps of trained killers who started off being snipers on the masts of ships and were reinforcers of the captain's rules on a navy vessel. We got our heritage from our first amphibious assault on a british island and captured some ammo and vittles much needed for the revolutionary war. we're cheaper than the Army with better discipline and better training: quantity vs quality.

@countrycowboyUSMC These days you basically are. A marine is an amphibious infantryman that operates off ships. Once that is no longer your primary role, you are not a marine you are a soldier. You can call yourself what you want but that doesn't change what the actual terms mean. I personally think Marine style combat training should be universal to all combat troops, totally eliminating the ability gap between Army and Marines. All of our troops should be the best, not just some of them.

Its kinda dumb that the marines make up most of the fighting force in this film. I feel like they would take the brunt of the initial fighting and rapidly the majority of troops would become hastily mobilized National Guard. Considering military bases would be among the first places to be hit, regular troops would be in short supply.
