this was the best boxing film i ever saw.i love the rocky films there great but this is a masterpiece.this is by far deniro's best acting job.the way he transformed his body like that was insane.the fight scenes were so real and violent.i even heard that deniro lived in jake lamotta's house night and day before the movie.

@Gaston088able NOButwhatI mean is that before he made this film he was deppresed.After nearly dying from a drug overdose, Scorsese agreed to make the film for De Niro's sake, not only to save his own life but also to save what remained of his career. Scorsese knew that he could relate to the story of Jake LaMotta as a way to redeem himself; he saw the role being portrayed as an everyman for whom "the ring becomes an allegory of life," making the project a very personal one for him

@JudasAngel666 So it seems that MEAN STREETS(1973), ALICE DOESNT LIVE HERE ANYMORE(1972) ( THAT JUST BECAUSE IT IS UNDERRATED AND UNKNOW SCORESE FILM DOESNT MAKE IT BAD) AND TAXI DRIVER(1976) arent good films to you....so Scorsese in the 70s was a nobody right???....Scorsese had seroius trouble with cocaine beetwen 1978 and 1980...and Raging bull save HIM, but that doesnt mean he wasent already making great films...try to watch them sometime before you write something that stupid!
