He should have had much more dialogue and played a more impactful role in the movie. Hawkeye is too badass and respectable to have been such a quiet-played character.

Oh, I agree. Apparently in the original script it was, but then Joss Whedon changed it last minute. Hopefully the second movie, he gets more of a chance.
