Shooting Davide Pedersoli's near-replica of the Lincoln Derringer pistol with accuracy, ballistics and user information. Although produced with a bit of fun, the Henry Deringer pistols remain significant as early examples of an important class of self-defense arms that are still used today.

Yes. Patches in round-ball muzzleloading guns help in gas sealing and the lubricated patches prevent leading and eases loading the next round.

For accurate shooting there are many better muzzleloaders that the Derringer class of arms. Target guns at the same range would eat out one ragged hole for a half-dozen shots.

Dixie does recommend 15 grains of FFFg, rather than 20 for their .45-caliber derringers and patched .440 round balls.

Shooting the Derringer reminded me of something I rad that an old gunfighter had said. "Always aim for the belt buckle and don't flinch." Or was it don't hesitate? Anyway...aim for the belt buckle and you are golden.

Hovey, I enjoy your videos. That pistol needs a higher front sight. Take care and God bless.

Thee's only one reason for burnt (or burning) patches--Too Much Powder. You may get better results with 2Fg. What caliber is your derringer?
