Richard Leakey is from the famed Leakey family who have been fundamental in determining the origins of humanity and have been working on this all their lives and are internationally renowned experts in human anatomical and evolutionary development.

There may be people with other opinions, but they are far from the majority and none of them at the level of acknowledged scientific expertise as the Leakeys. And of course, cited are several other people, and most anatomists, biologists and paleontologists would agree with Leakey.

Human beings have been called omnivores because like chimpanzees and bonobos our close ancestors, we are frugivores, and we also eat nuts and grains. Chimps and bonobo's diet includes about 5% "animals", but almost all of that is insects, not what we identify as "meat".

We are not omnivores in the sense that dogs are omnivores. Even omnivores that eat flesh have different dentition to humans.

Awesome video, sat down with my kids (I'm vegan and my kids only have vegan/vegetarian diet when they are with me) and we watched it together. The sound track is great too! My son who is autistic said, "of course we are herbivores mum, we have to respect animals rights""meat eaters are gross!". Your video and others like it (Earthlings) are so important for the next generation to see. After all it's the children who will carry on these beliefs and continue them with their children etc
