It's getting quite annoying when people compare this to Win 8 or Mac OS. Chrome OS is about 2 things. Speed and Simplicity. The whole idea behind it is that you don't have to wait for the OS to boot, for all your programs to load and then clear any annoying popups about new updates or security problems. It's designed to get you online in seconds. Yes it doesn't have programs or a DVD drive but you don't need that really, most things are online. For £370 I will defo be buying!

now you're like comparing iOS to WP, iOS is bit more complicated but it supports MANY MORE things, WP is really the easiest SmartPhones OS, but it does not support as apps as iOS or Android. It's not about apps, it's about ability to control settings, get inside the OS... etc. And that's why I love jailbreak, because it makes that easy OS (iOS) easier and more functional that any OS (more than Android).

how it it windows 8? it doesn't have any silly 'push mouse into corners to unhide things', in fact it is easy enough for your granny to use, unlike windows 8 which is so non-obvious not even an 11 year old can use it! and they are usually quite computer savvy

Well even though the new Chromebooks are out and they sound fast enough, I'll wait another year for the third generation. I don't trust Google. I'm interested in getting an 11" MacBook Air, the computer Linus Torvalds uses, and running Linux on it. Apple pays attention to detail. Otherwise, I can't decide on another laptop. I should get an inexpensive desktop with an AMD APU and peripherals ~ before Windows 8 comes out.

Check out the Chrome Web Store...there's actually a lot of great stuff in there. I was able to use web apps for most of my daily computer needs...Pixlr for photo editing, Docs for...well, you know....there are even some fun music apps that I spent a lot of time with. I'm with you on the price, like everybody else, but as far as the battery goes, I was pretty happy with my Chromebook. That's about the only thing I miss about it.
