I wanted to travel to Koyasan (Mount Koya) to visit the Okunoin temple cemetery. I remember seeing pictures and videos of it online, and walking through the cemetery late in the evening. It looked really interesting.
Koyasan is a famous pilgrimage site for the buddhist religion. There are many temples in the area which provides overnight lodging for travelers, and you can also observe the daily routine and life of buddhist monks that reside in the temple.

Koyasan is not that big of a place, and walking from one end of the city to the other can easily be done. And a great thing about this place is that there are not a lot of travelers, so you can enjoy the whole place to your place.
