Hunter S. Thompson's love of life was mirrored by his love for food and drink.

  • Bill Murray SUCKS. Johnny Depp rules. Can't wait to see the new movie.

  • @ducatiracer555 Not really excited about "The Rum Diary" adaptation. The book was excellent, and I'm going through my second read through to catch anything I missed, or didn't form a complete understanding of through the first read. The way the movie is being marketed... meh... rubs me the wrong way.

  • @booty1983 Well, I rather see it than another Fast and Furious movie.

  • @ducatiracer555 You do realize there are now a lot of excellent direct to DVD movies now (movies that weren't comic book adaptations, adaptations of novels, or American versions of Foreign films)? Small budget films, made by big film companies. But they chose DVD to save money because it's not "marketable" now to release an original movie. This adaptation looks like a Hollywood movie, and will probably suck. Back when "Fear" was made, adaptations were seldom and rare. I don't know, man.

  • I agree. Depp was more "Duke". The insane imagination, as opposed to the reality of the insanity.

  • Watching Murray try to play Hunter makes Depp look like a genious. But anyone who attempts to play Hunter is still a hero to me.. Hunter lives on

  • I actually saw "Fear And Loathing" first, then, about 6 years later bought "Where The Buffalo Roam," and actually liked Murray's portrayal better.

  • all my heroes are dead

  • But remember - Depp was actually portraying RAOUL DUKE, NOT Thompson himself.

Murray got very close to a calm HST, Depp got very close to Duke. Only geniuses (genii?) such as them could pull-off such feats.

  • more fiends of the nature should be journalists

  • @ducatiracer555 Both are great in their own way!

  • Who ever says johnny depp did a better hunter s thompson then bill murray obviously does not have a clue who or how HST was..Bill murray was excellent and a much more realistic take on hunter s thompson, almost spot on ..but johnny depp did great portraying his frantic alter ego raoul duke..give bill murray props, that was a very accurate realistic take on hunter s thompson..johnny depps not so much..but fear and loathing was a funner movie thats for damn sure..

  • @booty1983 your an idiot.
