This is a technique that makes a fully formed double crochet stitch at the beginning of a new round as an alternative to the traditional chain 3 and count as a dc. Employs a paper clip to help with making the stitch and to help with placement of the slip stitch to join the round.
This is a chainless method of bringing the first stitch up to the same height as a regular dc while working in the round. The traditional way is to make three chains (often called a turning chain). When working in the round, the work is typically not turned.
