My first birth was amazing but I am unable to have homebirths as they are illegal in the state of GA but I found an amazing hospital and I'm currently volunteering to help bring a Birth Center to Atlanta. I wish you all the best for your birth. My 2nd is in April-May! I can't wait to share it so people know that it MUCH easier then they think

@mcrofoo1 I used to live in Georgia, when I was in chiropractic college. I had many friends have home births there. Have rules changed or is it just something you need to do "underground"? When I was down there most of my friends used a midwife named Claudia. I think her office was at her home in Kennesaw and I know she has done births as far as Peachtree City. Not since the antics of Nadya Denise Doud-Suleman have I seen such a Narcissistic act of bullshit. It isn't like this has been done before. This seems more selfish than generous. Perhaps you could direct your energies to helping on the issue of better childbirth in other ways. This doesn't do anything except put the spotlight on you.

@jimsottile I really don't see how this is about me. The goal is for women to see that birth is normal, not a crisis, and that they can do it too. I have been helping women realize their ability to give birth naturally for years. How is that about me. They are the ones who are accomplishing something. I am just helping them realize they can. Having the "spotlight" on me is the worst part of this experience because it can interfere with me achieving my best birth, that doesn't serve me.

I am so happy, proud and honored to know of you, your commitment to helping us reclaim our bodies and birthing. I have never had a baby, nor have I seen one being born. I know that sharing in this experience with you will help recalibrate my assuptions, my fears, my ideas (yes, much of them given me only by television!). Luckily I have many friends who have given natural birth, so I have an idea of the differences, but I know many don't have that even. Thank you for putting yourself out there.

Best of luck and I think it is wonderful that you are doing this. I had 2 hospital births, and my third was born at home in the jacuzzi in my back yard. It was my absolute favorite of the three experiences. :)

I'm a birth doula here in Ottawa and am not surprised by the amount of negative attention this has gotten - I remember when live web streaming of a woman's birth was done before and received similar criticism ("she is thinking of herself and not the baby," "taking away her focus from the baby," "fifteen minutes of fame") but I don't think that people who haven't learned of the crisis the state of human birth in North America is in can appreciate what you are doing.
