I would personaly cut a few air vents or mod on some air tunnels to the K&N just for better perfomance.

it appears that where the wing not goes there is no filter just air, won't that suck dirt into the engine? I've been thinking about getting one of these filters, I have an 2009 with a fmf q4 exhaust. does yours work well? does it backfire much?

@jeffrealtall1 there's actually a plastic cover placed under the wing nut that closes the top and creates a seal, no unfiltered air should be getting in. I haven't experienced and backfires and it has performed very well so far. My only disclaimer is that I haven't been on many dusty roads lately, I've heard several complaints about fine dust getting through the filter. I haven't had this problem.
