He's done terrible things but he is still a man sentenced to die.Others just as evil are free to do what they like...justice is a stranger in a world of hype and lies. I wrote this 2 months before the hanging, all the attention came when people started looking for the execution video so that makes me despair but I wish folk would listen to all the words instead of jumping to their own bigoted conclusions.Violence just produces more violence in a seemingly endless cycle but does anyone care anymore?

  • Americans, Arabs, Jews......they all butcher and kill in ruthless ignorance!

  • most of you are missing the point of this song.....it's an attempt to explain Saddam's feelings about his life and the world not a justification of ANY political creed.

  • Hey Magicdirt. How can "aimless" eyes be scary?.....I'm confused but it's probably my age!....I mean I'm so old my eyes are actually dead!

  • @KrisShred

    good insight

ignoring someone who only wants to know you have learned from your mistakes and will not act violently in the future is also - you know - a form of violence

and yes, it does bring, even invite - violence from the side of the person that got hurt in the past and does not want to see such pain for others in the future ;)

  • I'll be shocked if Steve Earle doesn't rip this off.

  • Thanks for the song.

  • not all men are the same, not all leaders either no matter what country they lead, even if it's the same one. Such is one of the few beauties of the US

  • Does anyone have the lyrics? Becouse this song seems great but my english isnt as good to know exactly what Mr. Colin is singing.

  • The USA kills for its own desires Innocent, women, children & elders USA want, stays unsatisfied with murder Thus ridiculing its own vast power "We The People" are fooled incessantly Continually, day after day, repeatedly Mass media swarms & supports any Military event, itself in a stringent captivity It's the way we citizens continue to ride Illegal invasions & the millions person genocides Wake up America to the horrible but true! Yes, to stop it, there's much we can do.
  • Thank you Colin for putting this up. I was saddened when Saddam was hanged. He may have been an evil man, but he was human, and felt fear I am sure, and people forget that. Thank you

  • In fact, we can go back to the start of the progressive movement and Woodrow Wilson to see the consequences. Look at how Wilson pushed the US into WW1. Did you know there were thousands of people imprisoned here in the us for speaking out against going to war? There were even ads advocating neighbors spy on each other and report to the justice dept. for simply disagreeing with the war. Is this the world you want to live in? Because, I fear that you will have it.. probably very soon.

  • But we did not chose. The constitution states that the people through our elected officials in congress have the power to declare war. This clear restriction on the executive branch was ignored and we went to war without the approval of the congress.

When will the American people stand up and fight for the constitution and our civil liberties? "A society that will give up a little liberty for a little security deserves neither and will lose both." Ben Franklin

    God Bless

  • Socialism strips liberty and the freedom to chose from the individual man. Liberty is the principle we must stand on. Socialism/Progressiveism holds the good of the collective over the rights of the individual. Power over the people is always corrupted and used for evil, no matter who holds it. We must return to what is constitutional and give power back to the individual. If we held to the constitution, we would not be in Iraq at all, because only congress holds the power to declare war.
