It's been an exciting week in Illinois. Governor Quinn has continued to take important steps to create jobs across the state and get Illinois back on track financially.

Yesterday, Governor Quinn signed the Small Business Job Creation Tax Credit into law. Local small business leaders joined the governor as he created the one-year program, which will create 20,000 new jobs throughout the state of Illinois.

And today, the governor signed into law the most significant pension reform bill in our nation's history, which saves Illinois taxpayers more than $200 billion, while protecting retirement for state workers.

Governor Quinn's historic pension reforms have been lauded from a wide variety of sources, even garnering commendations from the Wall Street Journal and conservative columnist, George Will.

And we are proud of the recognition from respected Illinois congressman and judge, Abner Mikva, who wrote:

"Gov. Pat Quinn and the Illinois legislature accomplished a near miracle when they successfully negotiated the "third rail" of Illinois politics: a meaningful reform of state pension laws More than a faint praise, they deserve a loud hurrah."
