Portable Earthquake Warning System
Highway Industry Development Organization HIDO

The Highway Industry Development Organization (HIDO) is moving ahead with the development of an emergency earthquake bulletin system for highways and highway construction sites as well as the development of an operations manual for road construction workers and other related personnel. HIDO has developed a "Portable Earthquake Warning System" designed to eliminate the loss of time, which is an existing problem in the current emergency system. In addition, the portable warning system is designed to ensure the safety of construction personnel working in disaster sites where there are aftershock concerns, and for construction teams changing locations. The portable warning system is easy to carry and set up about, and it includes an alarm, detector, battery, and antenna. This new portable system also addresses the weakness of personal emergency bulletins in response to epicentral earthquakes. Since it is unaffected by weather conditions, it can be used outside anywhere and carried from site to site. The battery provides 24-hours of continuous operation at locations lacking access to power.
