I totally see why Scorcese wanted this film. After watching it I realized it's a giant homage to the history of film especially in the second half. This movie was absolutely mezmerizing, the cinematography was so beautiful and Hugo is actually one of the only movies out there that USES 3d. I know alot of movies HAVE 3d. but Hugo actually had beautiful shots in 3d. I recommend this movie to just about anyone.

Hater,you just got me there.I am hater if I disagree with overrated piece of crap?C'mon I have seen this year 2011/12 much better films than this,like for example:The Hunter,Melancholia,We Need To Talk About Kevin,My Week With Marilyn,Martha Macy May Marlene that virtually destroy the competition by awards and recognition they are getting Worldwide.Oscars have become like World beauty contests,rigged to the bone!Holds zero credibility if compared to other festivals.

I loved this movie. The reasons why I think I love it so much because, I love the book, I really like Chloe (Kick Ass is one of my favorite movies ever), I love Asa (I first saw him in Nanny McPhee returns, and although that movie was really bad I said to myself "Hopefully he becomes a star" because he was a really good actor.) and I love Martin Scorsese films.

@climzadrow7 yes the movie takes a while to unfold, you can't watch this movie and expect something to happen right away. The movie is a masterpiece in itself so you need to watch it as if it's a painting, you need to imagine yourself there which may be why it dosnt switch scenes too quickly, love this movie!!
