In early 2009, all levels of Community of the Malaysian state of Penang pooled their resources together to make 1 million Effective Microorganisms (EM) Mudballs.

On 8th August 2009, these 1 million EM Mudballs were thrown into various waterways in Penang in a bid to Bioremediate them - starting with 200,000 EM Mudballs here in Gurney Drive.

This is Penang Adventurers' Club (PAC) culminating their contribution to the effort.

    Sigh*...

And this is why education is important.

I am greener than many of you can possibly hope to be because i do things without wasting my time on things that are just woo-woo as far as research can show.

Yes, indeed human beings are an ignorant lot, but you are showing us just how ignorant they can be, by asking other people to read books to smarten up, yet refuse to do any real research yourself.

There is real information out there if you know how to look for it.

  • @microorganismhellas

If you are asking me to read a book, ill ask you to learn to use the internet for what its worth.

Profit & Numbers? I really think you haven't done your homework, mate, and are happy being a woo-woo follower as long as it makes you feel good.

Have you even checked if there is someone making money from it before saying stuff like that?

I have the docs with the pricing they are showing my company for participation in this unproven technology, and frankly, its ridiculous.

  • @JustJobeMY everyone wants the best for him without taking in account our environment. Pharmaceutic industry's, manufacturers agricultural chemicals, unhealthy waste disposal of high toxic materials etc... etc... they all have power they all have money and they all want to keep it.... so they do what is necessary for that. Sadly human beings are ignorant, once again where do you think we are living

  • @JustJobeMY where do you think we are living my friend. In a world of profit and number, the em technology isnt something that fits in there read a book and make yourself smarter

  • @microorganismhellas

Yet, if you told me how it works, i will have the vast resources of the internet to confirm if you are telling the truth or lying. Researh papers, websites etc.

If something so simple cannot be provided, then of course it would be natural to suspect EM to be just another snake oil.

This is how rational thought works.

Anything else opens us up the possibility of us being gullible consumers of bullshit.

Is that really so difficult to understand?

    I am still waiting.

  • @JustJobeMY Your believe in this matter is only because you dont know how the system of microorganism effects other things than agriculter, but its just the same principle that helps the soil recovering from pestizides and other supplements and make it self preserving if the natural balance is being kept

  • Oh, and one more thing:

I would appreciate u telling me what science sources u quote so i can see if i missed anything.

My beef is with the way the state promotes EM, there is obviously very little starting points to began searching for information.

Ill give you the chance to give me your research info here which you think shows EM Mud Balls will clean the sea in Penang.

I'm here because i promote educating folks... not following other's authoritative sounding quotes blindly like sheep.

  • Sweet, finally someone has the sense to reply. I thank you for that.

Now, yes, EM has had some papers done but for AGRICULTURE!. Tell me how you go from agriculture research to "EM Mud Balls will work clear mud when u throw mud balls into the sea."

I'm not saying the microbes are the issue. I'm saying making mud balls and tossing it into the sea are going to have no effect in an open system.

Also, who says the mud there is a bad thing? the mudskippers?...or you folks?

    Peace.

  • Jobe, apparently you have no resources to do some research yourself. EM is a fully science backed technology. With even a small brain, one could research any of the Bacteria or Yeast in EM to see how and what they do for polluted environments.

  • I am especially ashamed that Lim Guan Eng has allowed alt-therapy folk to run rampant with fake claims.

I voted for you guys because i thought you were serious about raising education in our states and you go and introduce more woo-woo practices like this.

    Whats next? government run acupuncture?

If you dare, ask Dr Teruo and Joean to show you what 'proof' they have then bring their proof to a real science forum and open it to the public for feedback before endorsing this bogus practices more.
