They will if they start turning in massive profits... But really Ford needs to sort its own mess out before getting pre-occupied with Jag. They worked wonders with Aston Martin, but they can get away with it because its a premium niche producer. Jaguar like Merc and BMW is a mass producer so innovation, high quality and intelligent pricing is key here. I think Jaguar has a real good chance but they will have to move fast on their whole range to keep the momentum the XK and XF started.

Ford seemed to lose grip on the situation and the company spiralled further into the abyss. The X-type was not even a Jaguar idea, that was down to Ford, as stated by Ian Callum. In future, it is likely that you are going to see Daimler AG powertrain products being used in place of Ford - Daimler has a stake in Tata cars.
sorry but, tatamania now hmmm

Please note that they are still being designed by British engineers.. the only difference is that Geoff Polites let everyone come out of their unlocked boxes to actually do some interesting work. It was the main reason I chose not to work with them when I finished my degree a few years ago. Now they have a proper product plan, some really talented designers and engineers and for the first time a guy in charge who actually has some vision...

And also interestingly enough it is likely to be more "English" now with Tata than before with Ford. Also Ratan was clear in saying that he will leave the Jaguar guys going ahead as they were doing. That is what Jaguar needed, more money to go ahead in the right direction (already taken with XK and now XF)
