Why are people always so amazed when someone comments that he's a metalhead and he likes a non-metal song? Are most of you "metalheads" so closed-minded that you're THAT surprised with yourself whenever you like a song from a different genre?

2003? Yeah, I think you need to go quite a bit further back in time.

not at all. When someone truly loves metal, they dig very deep into its extremeties, and whenever someone digs really deep into a harsh or 'difficult' underground genre, they come out with a new appreciation for ALL 'real' music. I started with metal, then punk, then the politics of punk got me into hip hop, then IDM from hip hop beats etc.... Most punk or metal fans, are really just MUSIC FANS. I don't think i'm special or 'better' becuz of any of this either
