nice to see a film about
Albania in English
-
also if some of the statues and museums had been left standing it might have encouraged tourists to go and have a curious look
-
Maybe if Albanian communists had gone down the road of hungary, theyd have maybe survived, people in Hungary had a deal of freedom, were allowed to travel abroad,"goulash communism" as it was known.Yep this film is real propoganda but its NOT lies, education, the industry and rights of women all progressed under Enveer. And yes ive met Albanians who said that period wasnt all bad, neither they say was it all good. But every albanian ive met and talked to ,maybe about 15,all say Berisha was scum.

@jstrong1008 doesn't that all just sound wonderful?

@MrOlieMartin I can only assume that you have never actually been to Albania or known any Albanians who lived under the Albanian brand of Communism. thousand upon thousands of people were imprisoned for senseless reasons. NO freedom of religion. Lovely storefronts with no food. Fruit trees outside your back door (in what used to be your own back yard) going to waste, but you can't use it to feed your hungry family because you'd go to jail. seven year-olds training on machine guns.

what a stunning piece of propaganda....

@trickdaddyaz03 Once you view the world in that true sense only then will you see that socialism in the marxist sense can only be achieved through capitalism as capitalism thrives on efficiency allowing humanity to figure out the most beneficial technologies and innovations in the most natural democratic sense... through consumers in the market. The benefits far outweigh the cost. Where would humanity be technologically if markets were driven by political parties rather than capitalists?

@herrgolf Imperialism forced people out of Europe to the Americas. You cannot intertwine social or government structures with capitalism. Capitalism has developed with humanity from the beginning of the human race. The simple fact of limited resources made this institution inevitable. Therefore to characterize capitalism as flawed is to characterize humanity and the cost of living (food, shelter, water, ect..) which is only a function of the constraint of limited resources as flawed.

@herrgolf The other thriving capitalist economies are successful, in turn, due to their favorable association with the Western powers. The main point is, though, that much of the so-called success of capitalism has to do with the inherited legacy of the powerful countries.
@trickdaddyaz03 Capitalism was built on slavery and suffering, some parts of the US still boast 50% unemployment, there are massive inequalities of wealth. Capitalism has been going for 100s of years, yet those fundamental problems exist.
Capitalism does not work economically or socially, if you think it does, head down to impoverished Detroit and tell them that. Look what Albania achieved in a backwards country, in such a small period and imagine what we could achieve with our infrastructure.
